Early Pregnancy Symptoms – Week 1 to Week 8
Women conceive and carry a pregnancy bump till their delivery. However, a lot of things happen between conceiving and getting pregnant with a baby. The process of baby development takes 36 weeks inside the womb to finally deliver a healthy baby. During the baby development process, mothers need to go through unexplainable things.
Some just get hot flashes, while some quit their favorite food because their body rejects it. But this doesn’t start at the same time in every woman. In fact, every pregnancy is different and so are its symptoms.
Within seven days of conceiving, you may experience sore breast, excessive sleep, mood swings, etc. What I felt in my early pregnancy was a sudden spark in the spine like something has supercharged it.
The feeling is unexplainable but on that very day, I got to know about my pregnancy without even testing it with a pregnancy kit. Maybe this spiritual sign of pregnancy happened to me due to my yoga practice. I was aware of what was happening to my body. I tested the next day, it was positive.
So, when I was 2 weeks pregnant, I experienced spotting and fatigue. My breasts were tendered, and my sense of smell was stronger and I started experiencing food aversions and frequent urination. And, those hot flashes- I never felt so hot in my life!
With the third week of pregnancy, nausea started. I got a serious repulsion to garlic and onion smell. I could not do my daily chores like I used to do them. I got tired and slept for hours during day time.
When the fourth week started, I started waking up in the middle of the night due to hunger pangs.
Discomfort started with the fifth week of pregnancy. The swollen breasts, nausea, fatigue feelings were on peak.
And then sixth week welcomed morning sickness. I still remember I had morning sickness till 11 weeks.
In my seventh week of pregnancy, my oversized pants started hugging me perfectly. I still remember how much I was afraid to laugh because the increased pressure on the bladder due to growing uterus could result in pee leak which could leave me embarrassed in public.
As soon as I entered the eighth week of pregnancy, my food cravings and aversions got stronger. Every other night, I used to travel for pani puri (like 2 A.M) for real! My breasts got bigger; I guess these were getting prepared for lactation. You can never underestimate the woman’s body- it’s a most complex creation of nature.
Do you know? Woman’s breast produces different kinds of milk for male and female babies. Suppose you gave birth to a daughter, it will produce milk as per your daughter requirements. In the same way, if you gave birth to a son, it will produce milk as per your son’s requirements. If there are twins or multiple babies, one breast produces milk according to the baby girl and the second breast produces milk according to the baby boy. Interesting, isn’t it?
Due to my regular yoga practice, I never had to deal with constipation or nasal congestion. Even my blood pressure stayed normal during my entire pregnancy.

Yogymummy
It was really a beautiful experience. I loved taking care of myself like never before. I never skipped my yoga practice. I woke up early around 4 A.M. and practiced prenatal yoga sequences which helped me deliver a healthy baby girl. It was a vaginal delivery and everyone was rather shocked at first after listening to the news because no one had expected that I could do it.
I was 39(in KG) when I conceived and I hit 50KG in my last trimester. My doctor was really proud of me as she was also not sure if I could make it. But we did – thanks to my husband, who was there to share my pains.
With my pregnancy experience, I have learnt that yoga can make everything happen. Even if everyone has a doubt, it can leave them speechless at the end with its results.
