How to Make Yoga as Fun for Toddlers and Kids?

COVID-19 brought severity to the world and people are now aware of their poor immunity. To boost immunity, yoga comes to rescue everyone- including toddlers and kids. Yes, you can consider yoga for toddlers as fun exercise.

While you can still convince adults and old people to do yoga for maintaining their good health, it is tough in the case of toddlers and kids. You cannot make them understand what immunity is and why they need to boost it. But here, Yogymummy brings some better ways to make them learn without making them realize about it.

Yoga for toddlers is an amazing workout since it offers multiple benefits –

  • Strengthen their muscle and flexibility
  • Increases their body awareness
  • Improves their balance
  • Boost their concentration and mind power
  • Builds their language and social skills
  • Make them wise at decision making

The plus point of learning yoga is that you can preach about yoga to your kids as early as possible. Yes, toddlers and yoga can be a perfect combination. The trick is the way you introduce it to them.

If you ask my experience, I started teaching my daughter yoga when she was six months old. No, I am not joking. She is now two years old and playfully practices yoga. Like when I asked her how a mountain looks- she performs a mountain pose. When I asked her how to split, she just split. Such encouragement helps them perform yoga asana unknowingly.

Once your kid hits three, you can start making them understand why yoga is good for them. That is possible if you practice yoga regularly. Kids learn from the things they see. They are great observers and genius by birth. If you keep them in a loop while practicing yoga, they will learn it from you.

You can create stories and add characters and play them with yoga poses. Take an instance of thirsty crow. Pretend to be a crow and make a crow pose and narrate the story. They will love it and remember it forever. You can act like a cat and let them practice cat pose while watching you doing meow. You can perform the cow pose and make a moo sound. This is so much fun!

Ok, so let’s come to the results. What happens when you consider yoga for a toddler?

  1. You make bonding with your toddler

Toddlers are creative and they easily get attracted towards interesting things. Yoga is one of such things if you introduce it in the right way. By practicing yoga together, you create a memorable bond with your toddler.

2. Their senses become stronger

When they indulge themselves into yoga, they start learning about their body. Their senses become stronger. If you practice baby yoga, they know how to handle their neck right from their early age.

3. Brain development

Yoga boosts their brain power and develops their brain in a better way. They become smarter and intelligent as they age and they are able to make better decisions.

4. They have better sleep

Most parents have complaints that their kids don’t sleep on time or there is no bedtime routine. Yoga helps in establishing the bedtime routine of your toddlers and kids.

5. Boosts immunity

As you know Coronavirus pandemic has hit the entire world, yogis get a chance to re-introduce yoga as the best exercise to boost immunity and fight against Coronavirus. Yoga will help your toddlers in developing strong immunity and hence, they become prepared for future health challenges.
